چکیده

Objective: This study explored the effects of polysaccharides (RAPD) extracted from traditional anti-stone Chinese medicine Rhizoma alismatis and their carboxymethylated derivatives (RAPs) on crystal phase, morphology, size calcium oxalate (CaOx). It also determined damaging ability regulated crystals human renal tubular epithelial cells (HK-2). Methods: RAPD carboxymethylation with a carboxyl group (–COOH) content 3.57% was carried out by chloroacetic acid solvent method. The –COOH in RAPs RAP concentration regulation CaOx growth were studied controlling variables. Cell experiments conducted to explore differences cytotoxicity RAP-regulated crystals. Results: contents RAPD, RAP1, RAP2, RAP3 3.57%, 7.79%, 10.84%, 15.33%, respectively. can inhibit monohydrate (COM) induce formation dihydrate (COD). When high, COD enhanced. In induced RAPs, high lower damage cells. particular, lowest. increased, gradually increased due reduced formed An interaction observed between crystals, number adsorbed positively correlated RAPs. Conclusions: reduce HK-2 regulating crystallization effectively reducing risk kidney stone formation. especially content, has potential be developed as novel green drug.

Formation and Growth Inhibition of Calcium Oxalate Crystals by Takusha (alismatis Rhizoma)

The aim of this study was to examine the effect of Takusha (Alismatis rhizoma), a Kampou medicine, on the formation, growth and aggregation of calcium oxalate (CaOx) crystals by a seed crystal system, an undiluted urine system and a continuous flow crystallizer system. In the seed crystal method using a metastable solution, the inhibitory effect on aggregation and growth of CaOx crystals was ca...

Calcium oxalate crystals in the lungs.

A 67-year-old man who had been prescribed prednisolone for 20 months consulted our department due to repeated episodes of pneumonia. Computed tomography showed a large cavity in the apex of the right lung (Picture A, arrow). A fungal culture of a sample aspirated from the cavity revealed black-colored colonies (Picture B), which were later confirmed to be Aspergillus niger. A Grocott’s methenam...

Calcium Oxalate Crystals in Eucalypt Ectomycorrhizae: Morphochemical Characterization

Ectomycorrhizal fungi are ubiquitous in forest ecosystems, benefitting plants principally by increasing the uptake of water and nutrients such as calcium from the soil. Previous work has demonstrated accumulation of crystallites in eucalypt ectomycorrhizas, but detailed morphological and chemical characterization of these crystals has not been performed. In this work, cross sections of acetic a...

Peptides of Matrix Gla Protein Inhibit Nucleation and Growth of Hydroxyapatite and Calcium Oxalate Monohydrate Crystals

Matrix Gla protein (MGP) is a phosphorylated and γ-carboxylated protein that has been shown to prevent the deposition of hydroxyapatite crystals in the walls of blood vessels. MGP is also expressed in kidney and may inhibit the formation of kidney stones, which mainly consist of another crystalline phase, calcium oxalate monohydrate. To determine the mechanism by which MGP prevents soft-tissue ...
